Plate it Forward: A National School Meals Pilot Program

Joy Content: Exceeds Recommended Daily Value!

We have a rare and urgent opportunity to help change school meals forever.

A bold new pilot program is set to discover what happens when students eat real, nourishing food.

School of Lunch, a revolutionary program already transforming school meals in California and beyond, will launch the first-ever pilot for the National School Meals Program this winter. They will serve chef-prepared, ancestral dishes featuring full-fat dairy, high-quality proteins, and traditional fats, that are low in grains and free of added sugar.

Mark Cucuzella, MD

The pilot is not just a meal plan. It’s a clinical trial, designed to measure changes in student health, behavior, and academic performance.

Nina Teicholz, PhD

Leading the research are two longtime metabolic health heroes whom you may follow or recognize from previous newsletters and the Library section:

Mark Cucuzella, MD, Physician, professor, and author of Low-Carb for Any Budget and Nina Teicholz, PhD Independent nutrition researcher, the most influential expert on reforming the US Dietary Guidelines, and author of The Big Fat Surprise

This pilot has the potential to shift policy—in a system that feeds over 30 million children a day—away from practices that cause chronic illness toward those that prevent and reverse it.

But here’s the thing: chefs must be trained now, before the school year begins. That’s where we come in.

The campaign is already halfway to its goal. With our help, they can go the distance—and show the nation what’s possible.

Let’s make it happen!
